Congratulations Susan and Sang! Washington DC Wedding Photography

Susan and Sang were married on Saturday at the Old Post Chapel on Fort Myer, in a beautiful ceremony complete with a Sabar Arch. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with them both and am a little sad and jealous that they will soon be moving to Hawaii.
Besides being wonderful people, they were a photographers dream to give me a couple of hours and creative license during the portrait time. Thankfully the rain held off and we made a few stops in Arlington and DC - and I'm thrilled with the result! As their friends attested to all day, they are a perfect pair and I think you can see on their faces how much they love each other. It was a pleasure to be part of their joyous day!

Thanks also to Alex with Cherry Blossom Weddings and Events for making the day go smoothly! Other vendors of note: Crystal Gateway Marriott, Wedding Hair by Nicole, Picture Perfect Make-up, Maryam Flowers, Reston Limo, MyDeejay.com, Alexandria Pastry, and Lady Hamilton.

Jacob is One

OK, Jacob did turn one two months ago, but you can't take pictures in bare feet and shorts in February. :) It's so much fun to follow my little subjects as they grow year by year. Though I do get to see Jacob a little more often since his parents are friends of mine.
It's fascinating how these little people can understand everything you say to them and do most of it. Jacob is so smart and loving (the little boy that's following Jacob in the slideshow was first chased down and given several hugs by Jacob). It will be interesting to see how these early emerging personality traits manifest themselves as kids grow up.

Tyler is One

Tyler turned one last month and was ready to make his modeling debut. He was the most adorable, perfect little subject, but finally let his personality loose near the end of the shoot. You'll have to watch the slideshow for his funny faces!

Happy Birthday Meredith!

Meredith's first birthday is well documented with a photo shoot at the National Cathedral Bishop's Garden. She seemed to have a great time, enjoying all the attention, particularly from a group of girls on a school field trip who did their best to amuse her during a family shot. Seriously though, who could resist those huge blue eyes! She's a daddy's girl all the way!

Janel & Steve

Janel and Steve are engaged and I have the wonderful privilege of being their wedding photographer. Janel and I worked together years ago on the Hill and I'm thrilled to play a part in this important event in her life. As you'll be able to tell by the images, Janel and Steve are perfect together and it was a true pleasure to capture the joy they've found in each other!

Cherry Blossom Time

When the Japanese Cherry Trees bloom in DC, it's one of the most beautiful sights in the world - in my opinion anyway! If you haven't experienced them, it really should be on your list of things to do at least once in life. Though for me, I must see them as often as possible while they are blooming to get my fill until next year. :)

This is my 12th spring in DC and I'm still awed by the way they transform the area into a surreal world of puffy soft pink clouds that contrast with their gnarled trunks.

After the cold Saturday through Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were beautiful days!

Lenox comes to visit!

My nephew Lenox flew to DC to visit me last weekend! Besides his cute little self (or not so little - he grew 3 inches since I saw him 3 months ago!), he did bring along his mom and Katherine. :) We had a fun three days in spite of terribly cold and rainy weather and saw all the major DC monuments including the beautiful cherry trees.
Lenox looks like a little old man all bundled up!
He was quite the trooper for all our travels around the city.
He loves the slides at the park - I predict he'll enjoy roller coasters. :)
Fortunately the park service didn't catch him on the tree. :)
He's happy to have a rock for each hand.
The clouds made for a gloomy day,
but the foggy, glassy tidal basin was beautiful.
Here he comes!
