Jennifer and Jonathan

Yesterday I had an engagement shoot with Jennifer and Jonathan. Engagement shoots are always fun and I had a great time with them in spite of the heat. Doesn't she have the most beautiful curly hair? These are a few of my favorite shots plus a slideshow of more.

Food for Life

I spent all weekend at the first annual Cancer and Nutrition Symposium sponsored by the Cancer Project. The power of whole plant foods to prevent disease is really amazing! Plus I’ve found the benefits of feeling better today is an added bonus of eating healthy. So when I’m not busy shooting weddings and portraits, I’ll be teaching Food for Life cooking classes to help people (and particularly those surviving cancer) use food to their advantage.

The Cancer Project is a non profit here in DC that promotes nutrition as a way to prevent and treat cancer. They sponsor research and provide cooking classes all over the country. If you look over the list of cooking classes, the ones listed for Arlington, Virginia are where I’m teaching; you’re welcome to attend!

Flower Garden

I love flowers, which is just another reason why I love weddings! I went out to pick blueberries (my favorite fruit!) on Friday at Butler's Orchard and discovered that they also had a "pick your own" flower garden. The flowers are beautiful and they smell incredible too. If only Butler's was closer so I could have fresh flowers all the time!

Riley at 6 months

Riley is 6 months old now and looks like such a big girl for her 3rd photo shoot. Earlier on the beach the sand was very tempting so the boardwalk proved to be a less distracting prop. How cute is she?

Family Traditions

What fun memories! For the 5th summer in a row, the Attaways and the Graves (and the Hires) have taken a family picture at the beach. It's officially one of our many yearly traditions! However, this is a banner year as it's the first year we've had every last one of us in the picture. Every year we pick a different color scheme and endure the comments from onlookers. It's impossible to hide what we're doing, but it's worth it! And, our shoot always inspires others to go grab their cameras and have their own impromptu beach shoot.

Family of Three - Almost!

Madeline may think she's Leon and Susan's child, but she'll have to make room for the baby due in December. The baby will be my first niece or nephew - we'll find out which soon!
