Happy Birthday Lenox!

Lenox is officially 2 years old today! How the years fly by! It's amazing how much kids change from ages one to two. Barely walking a year ago, now he repeats everything you say, knows the alphabet, can spell his name and do 35 piece jigsaw puzzles. However, at his party on Saturday he still needed some help blowing out his candle despite his best efforts. :)
But he certainly knew what to do with the cupcake and
gave an approving "mmmm, yum, yum" after every bite.
This was after he discovered he could see his reflection in my lens. Lovely.
He takes the present opening very seriously, making sure to remove every bit of paper
and taking time to peruse the new George book. He loves books!
Here his is in the "jumpy thing" rented for his party with his favorite gift, a toy leaf blower.
It goes every where with him!

Alayne and Matt

For those of you waiting for more Lenox and Lincoln pictures, I prefer not to edit images from my laptop, so I'm saving most of the editing for January, but I do need to post more pictures of them from the last few weeks soon!
Today I had a fun shoot with Alayne and Matt. They were gracious enough to get dressed up and let me play! Who knew downtown Jacksonville was had so many great picture locations? And the best part is - plenty of street parking, unlike all the places I usually go. And, you can't beat nearly 80 degrees at the end of December!
I'll have more images of them soon too, but here's the last shot of the day. A lot of the images were glamorous or serious; I think it could be said that this one is the jump for joy that we were finally finished. :) Aren't they cute?!

Lincoln - 5 days old

At 5 days old, Lincoln was a perfect little subject for his first photo shoot. Maybe he'll be the kid in the family that hams it up for the camera. I can always hope! :) As you can see, he didn't let us interrupt his naps. First, a few family shots in the backyard:

These next two were taken on day 8. He's still sleeping.

And just to compare, here's Lenox, I think at about 10 days old. They don't look like twins, but I think it will be obvious they are brothers!

Introducing Lincoln!

I'm being accused of neglecting my newest nephew on my blog, so without further ado, I must introduce Lincoln! He was born on Saturday and portraits should be coming in a few days.

Here he is about an hour and a half old, right before his bath. The hospital where he was born keeps the babies in the room at all times so we could hold his hands and comfort him while he was getting checked out, measured, weighted and all. He was a hefty 10 pounds 3 ounces yet seems slimmer framed than Lenox who was 5 ounces lighter. At first we thought that Lincoln looked completely different than Lenox did at birth, but looking back at Lenox's baby pictures we've seen many more similarities than differences. And, as the days go by, they look even more alike.
A very eager big brother came the next morning to meet Lincoln.
Lenox immediately covered him with hugs and kisses. He loves to hold his baby brother.
Family of four.

And one with Lincoln and me, taken by Susan.

Wedding Portrait, Savannah Wedding Photography - Liz and Mike

On my way down to Florida for Thanksgiving, I met up with Liz and Mike in Savannah, for an after-the-wedding portrait session on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Savannah is a fabulous place for portraits so if any of my other clients plan to move there, please let me know!

Liz and I had a great time, and Mike doesn't look too miserable in most of the pictures. :) He was a great sport as we traipsed around Savannah for almost 4 hours! When I have willing and photogenic subjects and all the time in the world - compared to a wedding day - it's really hard to stop shooting. It was a fun change of pace for me and a great example of what you can do on the wedding day with time (usually I'm happy with 1 1/2 to 2 hours) built in for portraits.

Liz and Mike, thanks for spending the afternoon with me, I hope you love the images too!

Washington DC Children's Portrait Photographer - Maeve

Almost 10 month old Maeve was a trooper for her big photo shoot on a chilly but beautiful fall day. Her favorite part was all the colorful leaves. She was fascinated by them and even tasted a few. :) She has the most beautiful big blue eyes and and makes the silliest faces. It's hard to choose a favorite, but I do love the images with the tree roots!

Lloyd House Wedding Photography - Congratulations Kelly and Jeff!

Kelly and Jeff were married on a gorgeous fall day, with a sweet ceremony and dinner party at the historic Lloyd House in Old Town Alexandria. Who would have thought we'd have nice enough weather for an outdoor wedding under the yellow leaves? Beautiful!

Lauren and John

I enjoyed introducing Lauren and John to one of my favorite places in DC, Dumbarton Oaks. The gardens are one of the best places to find fall color, it's just a gorgeous place. We had a great time and as usual with fun subjects, I had a hard time ending the shoot! They were great to work with and adorable together. Look for Lauren and John's wedding next June. It's going to be beautiful as well!
