Today I visited one of my favorite hidden gems in DC, Dumbarton Oaks. You'll have to visit yourself to discover the gorgeous gardens. These images show off a little late fall color and some unique door handles.
Also from Sunday, here are Emily and Tomas's beautiful images. I have the most wonderful clients and I enjoy getting to know each of them as I share in the anticipation and excitement for the wedding day. Emily and Tomas were great sports as I searched for the best light and locations for their portraits; I think we got some great shots. I'm looking forward to their wedding in June!
Yesterday we had a beautiful fall day, perfect for an engagement shoot (or two). Sang and Susan were up first and wonderful to work with. I love the genuine expressions of happiness on their faces. It's obvious they really enjoy being together. Here are a few of my favorites, watch for a slideshow coming soon.
Allison and Adam are getting married in Virginia next May, but are living in Atlanta - which has made getting together for their engagement shoot a little challenging, to say the least. I'm glad it worked out to meet up with them last Saturday in Asheville, NC. Asheville has a lot of character, so it was a fun and different place to shoot. And, it was great to finally meet Allison and Adam! I'm really looking forward to their wedding and working with them again next year.
I met Colleen and Jonathan in Old Town for their engagement shoot last Saturday. It's amazing how many couples tell me they don't have any (or any good) pictures of themselves. I'm always happy to help them remedy that situation! An engagement is the perfect excuse for some casual portraits to capture the relationship. I had a great time with Colleen and Jonathan as we made the most of the beautiful day and beautiful scenery in Old Town. The Starbucks is one place they frequent so we had to include it!
In 1987, I took these two pictures one summer evening at the lake and was forever captivated by portrait photography. Even though I already knew I enjoyed photography, I do credit Katherine with being the inspiration behind my photography career, all those years ago. (That's 20 years - wow. OK, now I feel old! :) For the record, I was barely 13.) Wasn't she adorable?? She's clearly a natural in front of the camera. Katherine's gone from adorable to gorgeous, and will always be one of my favorite people to photograph. These are from last weekend at the National Cathedral. She finally made it up from Florida to visit!
Grant is adorable, as you can see, and such an agreeable boy! He's 16 months old and belongs to my good friends Sara and Chris. They were in Jacksonville while I was last weekend and it was such a treat to see Sara and Grant 4 days in a row. I'm always on the lookout for good backdrops and great light, but honestly, it doesn't get any better than this. I think the background is wonderful and while Grant's in the shade, we had the sun reflecting off the side of a white car just a few feet from him. It's not often you find perfect light at 1 o'clock in the afternoon!
While I was in Florida last weekend, I had the privilege of taking Catherine's Senior Portrait. I've known her pretty much her entire life, so I felt a little old, but otherwise it was so much fun! Doesn't she look fantastic?!
The beautiful Riley has a new baby brother, Declan. These pictures were taken when he was just 8 days old, last Friday. He was quite alert and only allowed himself a few cat naps so he didn't miss too much of his first photo shoot. (I think he knew we wanted him to go to sleep :)) Such a sweet baby boy!
