Northern Virginia Baby Photographer - Quinn

After my visit to the Lewis Ginter Gardens, I headed over to Maymont to meet up with my little subject for the day's shoot. I have to pause to first put in a plug for Maymont. The house and land were donated to the city in 1926 by Mr. and Mrs. Dooley. The true jewel of the park and gardens is the 1893 Victorian home, full of the Dooley's furnishings. One of a kind priceless pieces that are a treat to see. The house itself is stuffed full of details from the patterns in the hardwood floors, to the stained-glass that's different in every room, to the amazing ceilings. The glass front book cases were one of my favorite elements, but the stained-glass windows over the stairs were gorgeous too. It was way too much to take in one visit. If you're ever near Richmond, I highly recommend a tour of the Maymont house!

Little Quinn is the nephew of wedding clients Courtney and Saul and I can see why the family is so smitten with baby Quinn and his big blue eyes! It was a pleasure to meet and photograph this precious boy and to reconnect with Courtney and Saul's family. Here are a couple of favorites photographs of baby Quinn and his parents.

Baby Photography Arlington VA - Caleb

I know I've mentioned a few times how wonderful all my clients are and how much I enjoy seeing them over the years as their families grow, but it's so true! This adorable little guy belongs to Jay and Karen who were married a few years ago and I had the privilege of being their wedding photographer. It was great to see them and meet Caleb for his first photo shoot on a warm spring day. Caleb gave us his attention for about an hour and a half, which is quite impressive! With grandparents on hand to help with the family shots, I think he enjoyed having the attention of all his favorite faces. Babies change so fast, I'm so glad Caleb's parents are making sure to document these days with pictures before they slip past.

Aldan and Theron - twins!

My friend Lauren had twin boys recently and we thought it would be fun to get some sweet shots of them together. Well, easier said than done! After several hours on day 5, we gave up to try again on day 8. After another couple of hours we were able to get them both asleep at the same time for a few moments and I grabbed these shots. With a combined weight of about 16 pounds they are not as small as they look! They are both sweet boys, but so different already. Aldan has brown hair and Theron is blond, so they should be easy to tell apart. Here they are at 8 days old.

Audrey - 2 months

Beautiful little Audrey is 4 days older than Lincoln and made her modeling debut at 9 weeks. Isn't she a doll?? I think she likes the camera. :) And check out the pictures of her "talking" to her dad in the slideshow. I've never heard a baby have a conversation before, it's so cute! I wonder what she was telling him...
I've been out of the county for a few weeks and these were taken the day before I left. Travel pictures to come soon!

Introducing Lincoln!

I'm being accused of neglecting my newest nephew on my blog, so without further ado, I must introduce Lincoln! He was born on Saturday and portraits should be coming in a few days.

Here he is about an hour and a half old, right before his bath. The hospital where he was born keeps the babies in the room at all times so we could hold his hands and comfort him while he was getting checked out, measured, weighted and all. He was a hefty 10 pounds 3 ounces yet seems slimmer framed than Lenox who was 5 ounces lighter. At first we thought that Lincoln looked completely different than Lenox did at birth, but looking back at Lenox's baby pictures we've seen many more similarities than differences. And, as the days go by, they look even more alike.
A very eager big brother came the next morning to meet Lincoln.
Lenox immediately covered him with hugs and kisses. He loves to hold his baby brother.
Family of four.

And one with Lincoln and me, taken by Susan.

Megan

Megan is the daughter of another of my wedding clients from last year, and it was great to meet her and spend a good portion of the day with her parents. She was perfectly comfortable with the camera, as you can see. Though she did let us know when she was finished for the day! Isn't she sweet?

Brooks - 3 months

Baby Brooks loves the camera almost as much as his toes! :) He was a sweet little subject as we documented his 100 days birthday.

Gabriel

Sweet baby Gabriel is the son of another one of my favorite wedding couples from last year. He wasn't too excited about making his modeling debut, but in the end allowed a few cute shots. I think he said something about talking to his agent first next time. :) How adorable is he?!

Natalie - 2 1/2 weeks old

Several of my wedding clients from last year are having babies this year, which is a wonderful excuse to see them again and stay in touch.
The first baby to arrive is Natalie, born to Roderick and Leriza, married 4-07. Natalie cooperated fairly well, all things considered. It seems that even newborns don't want to miss a minute of their shoot and stay awake for a record length of time, but she finally gave up and took a nap. :) Roderick and Leriza were very patient with her and helpful to me for the 3 hour session which resulted in great images. Isn't Natalie the most adorable thing??
